Digital x-rays

Digital x-rays are computer generated imaged which require up to 90% less radiation than conventional film type x-rays. Instead of using the traditional film which must be developed in caustic and environmentally damaging solutions, the digital pictures are recorded on a small electronic sensor which then instantaneously transmits an image to a monitor.

The image can then be viewed by both the clinician and the patient, as the images can be enlarged, magnified, inverted etc they can be used to highlight disease and discuss treatment.

Digital Intraoral Camera

A slender hand-held camera designed to go into your mouth and show on the computer’s monitor high quality close-up colour images of your teeth, gums, fillings etc.

The camera can help to diagnose some dental problems but it’s mainly used to show patients any problems they my have such as decay and gum disease. It can also be used to show and record before, during and after treatment photos.

However more and more we are using it to give our patients more targeted preventive advice. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words!

Endox and System B Obtura

During Root Canal Treatment (RCT) the aim is to eliminate bacteria that lie within the complex root canal system of the tooth. However we cannot see bacteria even with the use of magnification thus rely on mechanical and chemical means to eliminate them however at Dental Sense we use Endox to facilitate bacterial elimination. Endox  emits a calibrated electromagnetic impulse directly in the root canal system which is claimed to reduce more than 99.9%of all types of bacterial presence.

By removing pulpal residue through vaporization, pain that is commonly associated during and after RCT is greatly reduced/ eliminated.

Once disinfected we use thermal obturation techniques to seal the root canal system and prevent further ingress of bacteria.

DVD Goggles/Plasma TV's

To help alleviate any anxiety you may feel whilst your dentist is performing a procedure, DVD goggles are available which allow you to focus your attention on something else by watching a film. The film is viewed on small screens about an inch from your eyes but the device creates the illusion that you are watching it on a screen several feet away. Alternatively watch the same DVd or something completely different on one of our widescreen TV's. Choose a film from our library or bring your own favorite.
